⭠ Last week's report

This week is so slow we have not only a repeated top entry, but at least a third of the list couldn't break 400,000 views.

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
Weapons (2025 film) 2,046,636 This year, Julia Garner already saw her husband fall into lycanthropy in Wolf Man, and she's being scared again playing a formerly alcoholic teacher who one day has all but one child in her class vanish into the night, forcing her to investigate. Weapons was considered one of the best horror movies of the year and by opening with $43 million domestically, already covered its budget and made Warner Bros. have six straight movies opening over $40 million (after A Minecraft Movie, Sinners, Final Destination Bloodlines, F1 and #8), a streak they might extend next month with The Conjuring: Last Rites. A prequel to Weapons, possibly focused on the movie's villain, is in the works.
Coolie (2025 film) 1,983,725 On the heels of #13 at the Indian box office, this Tamil action thriller, written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and audiences, respectively; mainly equally divided with its two halves: praise for the first half, and criticism for the second.
War 2 (film) 1,436,072 War was one of Bollywood's biggest hits in 2019, 2023's Pathaan would estabilish it as part of the YRF Spy Universe, so now a proper sequel has hit Indian theaters, again with Hrithik Roshan wrecking havoc.
Deaths in 2025 1,048,572 But we're never gonna survive unless
We get a little crazy...
ChatGPT 1,021,576 700 million people use this chatbot, many of whom disapproved the upgrade to GPT-5. A medical journal released during the week also revealed a man who asked ChatGPT to get a replacement for salt wound up hospitalized with bromism.
Alien: Earth 947,563 The long-standing horror sci-fi franchise gets its first television foray, where two years before the original Alien a spaceship carrying that horrifying thing also known as the Xenomorph crashes on an island.
Wednesday (TV series) 794,982 The first half of the second season, following the morbidly macabre at her school, released on August 6, guaranteeing its return (and possible permanence) on this list through its second-half release in three weeks.
Superman (2025 film) 782,958 The two biggest superhero movies of the year, even if with box office earnings not as massive as the genre's heyday. DC launched its new shared cinematic universe with its landmark character, and in spite of getting close to $600 million worldwide Superman is already on video-on-demand, apparently because director James Gunn wanted it available as lead-up to the next project that will hit HBO Max this week. Marvel did the first universally well-received adaptation of its "first family" (also featuring #1's star Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal the Silver Surfer), that will end with earnings around $500 million, and its cast is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday, featuring the F4's archenemy in the comics.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps 565,179
Danielle Spencer (American actress) 551,398 This actress was best known for her role as the sassy sister on What's Happening!! in the late-1970s and its sequel. She then went on to be a veterinarian. In 2014, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and died from stomach cancer at age 60 on August 11.
KPop Demon Hunters 525,482 As of August 12, this animated musical fantasy film ranks second on Netflix's all-time most-watched film list, only 50 million views shy of the 2021 film Red Notice. The soundtrack also ranks high on several Billboard charts.
Cristiano Ronaldo 491,044 On August 11, it was announced that the Portuguese footballer had become engaged to Georgina Rodríguez, a social media personality and model. Ronaldo and Rodríguez have two daughters, with one son sadly dying during birth; Ronaldo has three other children by other women.
Saiyaara 463,644 At ₹561.90 crore worldwide, this July romantic musical drama has secured second-place on the Indian and Hindi box office charts for 2025. However, it remains to be seen if it tops Chhaava, released in February.
Taylor Swift 453,863 Where does this woman get her energy? Having concluded her record-breaking Eras Tour in December last year, Swift announced on August 13 that her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released on October 3. Produced with the Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback, the album was conceived and recorded during the tour's European leg. Swift said the album is inspired by the events behind the scenes on the tour, which she described as "exuberant and electric and vibrant". At twelve songs and with "infectious" melodies promised, The Life of a Showgirl could not be more different to its predecessor The Tortured Poets Department, the 31-track double album dominated by introspective lyrics and minimalist production. The artwork and aesthetic for The Life of a Showgirl is also some of the sultriest in Swift's career, which may or may not be a response to #19's declaration that she is "no longer hot". Sabrina Carpenter, who was an opener during the tour, is featured on the title track.
The Life of a Showgirl 450,009
Independence Day (India) 435,468 The 78th anniversary of India's declaration of independence from the UK was celebrated around the world on August 15, with numerous major cities displaying the tricolored Tiraṅgā.
Vladimir Putin 377,536 The Russian president traveled to Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson to attend the 2025 Russia–United States Summit, which aimed to end the Russo-Ukrainian War. Putin was given a red carpet welcome, a flyover of United States Air Force fighter jets and a Northrop B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, and given a ride in "The Beast" alongside #19. After a meeting lasting less than 3 hours, the two presidents attended a press briefing. No ceasefire was agreed on, no questions were taken, and the Russian president flew back to Russia.
Jenna Ortega 375,840 Splitting two controversial men is the star of #7, also seen earlier this year in Death of a Unicorn.
Donald Trump 363,373 In this edition of "What Did Donald Do?" (WDDD), the US president signed Executive Order 14333 on August 11, declaring a crime emergency in the heavily Democratic Party-leaning capital Washington, D.C., federalizing its police forces and deploying hundreds of National Guardsmen. On August 15, Trump met #17 in Alaska, though he left empty-handed as the ceasefire that Trump wanted so badly was far from agreed. To add insult to injury, most commentators agreed Putin outmaneuvered Trump, which can be surmised from Trump's uncharacteristically short three-and-a-half-minute speech in the press briefing.
Zach Cregger 350,760 One of The Whitest Kids U' Know showed he had horror credentials in Barbarian and extended them with #1 - Cregger said that movie drew inspiration from the death of his comedic partner Trevor Moore, with whom he shared a shameful directorial debut in Miss March. Cregger has also been hired to do another movie based on Resident Evil.
Mahavatar Narsimha 348,323 In the other MCU (AfD notwithstanding), this first of seven (planned) animated films, based on the seven avatars of Vishnu, opened theatrically on July 25. The film has topped India's highest-grossing animated films list once dominated by American films.
Freakier Friday 336,060 22 years later, the hit comedy telling the classic story of "mother and daughter switch bodies" gets a sequel upping the ante, as now Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis trade consciousnesses with Lohan's daughter (Julia Butters) and future stepdaughter (Sophia Hammons). Reviews were positive as the movie still delivers laughs (particularly on the two adult women acting like teenagers), and along with opening behind #1 at the box office Freakier Friday has already recouped its budget and should soon become profitable.
Sydney Sweeney 331,478 It seems the controversy around the "Sydney Sweeney has Great Jeans" ad campaign by American Eagle Outfitters is still drawing readers to this actress' page. For whatever it is worth, Sweeney has the support of #19, who declared that he prefers Sweeney over #14. August 15 also saw the release of Americana, in which Sweeney has a starring role. While the film has generally favorable reviews, it took more than two years for the film to be theatrically released after its world premiere, and its box office earnings is not looking good.
Alaska 330,719 Sold by Russia to the US in 1867, the city of Anchorage, Alaska's Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson hosted the 2025 Russia–United States Summit on August 15, attended by #17 and #19.
Hugo Ekitike 326,374 Keeping off Jurassic World Rebirth is a French striker who made his debut for Liverpool F.C., and has already scored a goal in his second game.
